Blog.

We've all had our noses to the grindstone at The Consult Centre of late. So much has been happening! Here are a few highlights.

The first thing to tell you all about, is our brand new door!

We wanted to be more eye-catching to passersby and the team at SID Designs did a fabulous job.

We've also got some new banners for outside too, as modelled by Ruth and Lesley! Thank you to Liz from Place 2 Print, they look smart!

We also crowned winners of our client review challenge!

Congratulations to Nikki, Jacob, Khaalisa and Taylor who scored a narrow victory over Greg and Lesley in a close and hard-fought contest.

Thank you also to all our wonderful friends and clients who provided reviews for us saying how much they love working with the team!

And for the record - Jacob won the game of bowling at Soul Bowl in Morecambe (Nikki told me through gritted teeth...she's very competitive!)

Archie and Marley loved their new piggy gifts (the pigs are unrecognisable now though after a few weeks of...erm...love!)

On Tuesday 1st September 2020, management of Well Pharmacy in Carnforth changed to become an independently owned local community pharmacy called Carnforth Pharmacy.

It was officially opened by Carnforth Mayor, Kath Bromilow MBE, supported by Linda Lambson, President of Carnforth Rotary.

The owners, Ben Fell, the Superintendent Pharmacist, and his wife Emily, a graphic designer, are a local couple who reside in Halton with their 6-year-old son James.

Ben has been a pharmacist for over 10 years, working predominantly in the Lancaster area and serving our local communities with all their healthcare needs.

Ben Fell, Owner

He is also the treasurer for Community Pharmacy Lancashire, the representative body for all community pharmacies in Lancashire.

His dream has always been to own his own pharmacy so that he can dedicate his time, skillset and passion to his customers, staff and local community.

The pharmacy itself has been serving Carnforth and the surrounding areas for over 60 years and Ben will be continuing that. His vision for the future is for Carnforth Pharmacy to work alongside the other healthcare providers, community groups and local organisations to provide excellent joined-up care in our area.

Ben says;

"Carnforth is a lovely town with a real community spirit. The existing staff at the pharmacy are brilliant and an excellent asset to the business. I want to create an atmosphere that is welcoming and shows how all of us here at the pharmacy genuinely care for the wellbeing of each and every one of our customers."

The entire pharmacy has had a re-brand and refresh, designed and created by his wife Emily, who is the founder and creative director of her own design business, Realm Media Ltd.

Ben, Emily and the Carnforth Pharmacy team look forward to welcoming you into your local high street pharmacy during your next visit to Carnforth and for many years to come.

The Consult Centre has invited local business professionals to write a guest blog. This week, we hear from Alison Marsden from Integrating Health.

Fitness is not just made up of flexibility, strength and stamina.

There is a fourth component, stillness.

It is great that you may be able to run a marathon or cycle 20 miles but if you are not able to be still, you can be over working your body, not allowing it time to do its cellular regeneration and reflective time. You may say that this happens during our sleep. However, a lot of us do not sleep very well and are not able to calm the mind down in preparation for good quality sleep.

Consciously deciding not to do is a valuable skill in today’s lifestyle.

The benefits could be: more focus, better quality of sleep, improved recovery times and maybe making healthier choices in your life to get you where you would really like to be.

Just like brushing your teeth, you do not say "I was busy yesterday and did not have time to brush my teeth". Also, your body will start to anticipate it and build up a store of the relaxing hormones so it makes it easier for you to be still.

What will you do to start investing in your health?

You could piggy-back it onto an existing habit to make it easier and chunk it down to a size that is achievable for you. You may like to start with two minutes or maybe 10 minutes.

Doing it regularly, at the same time, builds a habit and then you do not have to think about it or try and ‘fit it in’.

If you would like to have some help with this why not join my Stillness class on Fridays at 6pm-6.30pm online, a great way to start the weekend.
