Caroline Charnley founded Kitty Brown Boutique with her friend and business partner, Jenny Wheeler, 12 years ago. They realised that there was a real need for fashionable clothes and accessories aimed at women who didn’t want to dress like their daughters and definitely didn’t want to dress like their mothers. Starting off with a small unit on Carnforth Station, Caroline and Jenny moved into the centre of Carnforth on Ashtrees Way 7 years ago.
Since Jenny’s retirement, 4 years ago, Caroline has continued to expand the business, focussing all the time on making sure that the shop is a destination in itself, having a huge range of clothes and accessories in an attractive, chic and friendly environment. Last year the expansion took a big leap when Caroline took on the unit next door and opened a women’s shoe shop. Now, with a doorway between the two units, Kitty Brown can offer a complete service to their customers.
Originally from the South East of England, Caroline moved to the North West when she went to Manchester University. Her career always involved customer service and people management and this has enabled her to ensure she has a great team at Kitty Brown, providing the very best experience for customers.
Carnforth has become a very important part of Caroline’s life. Being the Chair of the Carnforth Business Network, she strives with other businesses to ensure that Carnforth is a great place to shop and visit.
