I'm sure you've heard the news about Meta's new Twitter competitor - Threads.

The newly launched app reached 100 million users in just a matter of days and is already owning the title of 'the Twitter killer.' According to Harper's Bazaar, 'a number of brands, celebrities and other prominent figures have already created their profiles: Billboard, HBO, NPR and Netflix had accounts set up within minutes of the launch, and Sarah Jessica Parker, Oprah and Kim Kardashian are now also on board.'

So what exactly is Threads?

In Instagram's own words, Threads is 'Instagram's latest text-based conversation app where communities come together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what’ll be trending tomorrow.

Whatever it is you’re interested in, you can follow and connect directly with your favourite creators and others who love the same things — or build a loyal following of your own to share your ideas, opinions and creativity with the world.'

Is it just like Twitter?

Well, if you're an avid Twitter user, you'll detect a few obvious similarities between the two, such as newsfeeds, 'Like' icons and the ability to repost 'threads', otherwise known as 'tweets' on Twitter. Although Twitter is already threatening to sue, Mark Zuckerberg has said, "It’ll take some time, but I think there should be a public conversations app with 1 billion+ people on it," he wrote in a Threads post, "Twitter has had the opportunity to do this but hasn’t nailed it. Hopefully, we will."

So what do you think?

Has Meta convinced you to make the switch? Or are you team Twitter? We're yet to know how this new platform will work for businesses and social media marketing, but it seems like only time will tell.
